Starting ahead
Many opponents take 3–4 games to “wake up”. Arrive warmed up and with a plan for the first games.
How
- Warm up before going on court (use the app’s pre-match routine).
- In the first games, play with a big margin and test your opponent: backhand, high ball, low ball, net.
- Pick your side based on sun and wind: into the wind it’s easier to control the first games.
- If your serve takes a while to warm up, choose to receive first.
Fitness that helps
- Split-step and bouncesAnkle bounces chained with a split-step and a first step to the side.
- Shadow swingsForehands, backhands and serves without a ball, with movement beforehand.
- Side shuffleShort side steps in an athletic stance, from side to side (2–3 m).
