Coming to the net with purpose
Deep approach, down the line and to the opponent’s backhand; split-step on arrival and first volley into the open court.
Sequence
- Pick the ball: short or slow, one you can hit inside the court.
- Deep, down-the-line approach (you cover angles better) or to the opponent’s backhand.
- Move in and split-step as your opponent is about to hit.
- First volley deep or into the open court; the second, to finish.
- Cover the line: the easiest pass for your opponent is down the line off the ball you sent.
