How to play against… · 3 min read
Against the slicer (slice, drop shots, changes of pace)
They give you low, slow, odd balls. Bend your knees, be patient with the low ball and attack when it rises.
The plan
- Legs: the low slice demands bending and lifting the ball with topspin and margin over the net.
- Don’t attack a ball below net height: wait for the one that rises.
- Play high to their backhand: slicers usually defend with slice and the high ball gives them trouble.
- Anticipate the drop shot: when you see them slicing from well inside the court, get ready to run forward.
To review after the match
In the app, when you mark that your opponent was “Slicer”, we ask whether you tried:
- I bent down and lifted the low ball with margin
- I waited for the rising ball to attack
- I played high to their backhand
- I anticipated the drop shots
To practice on court
Slice and topspin
Your partner plays only slice; you must return with deep topspin.
Goal: Lifting low balls safely.
